Exception message while opening MP4 file with QuickTime

miriam.solis
Hello all,

I want to access to my MP4 file using ImageJ, I already installed the
plugins for QuickTime and QuickTime for Java, now it allows me to import the
file using File/Import/Using QuickTime but then a message box appears in the
QT Movie Opener with two options:

Convert to 8-bit grayscale
Reduces memory required by factor of 4

Use Virtual Stack

After selecting one or any of these options I get an Exception window with
this:

ImageJ 1.51j8; Java 1.8.0_112 [64-bit]; Windows 10 10.0; 12MB of 6049MB
(<1%)

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: quicktime.QTSession.InitializeQTML(I)S
        at quicktime.QTSession.InitializeQTML(Native Method)
        at quicktime.QTSession.initialize(QTSession.java:413)
        at quicktime.QTSession.initialize(QTSession.java:385)
        at quicktime.QTSession.open(QTSession.java:638)
        at quicktime.QTSession.open(QTSession.java:606)
        at QT_Movie_Opener.run(QT_Movie_Opener.java:80)
        at ij.IJ.runUserPlugIn(IJ.java:217)
        at ij.IJ.runPlugIn(IJ.java:181)
        at ij.Executer.runCommand(Executer.java:137)
        at ij.Executer.run(Executer.java:66)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

I don't really understand what it means, I am stuck figuring out why this is
happening, any comment would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Miriam

Re: Exception message while opening MP4 file with QuickTime

Straatman, Kees (Dr.)
Dear Miriam,

Quicktime only works in 32 bit, you use 54 bit. Have a look at: https://imagej.net/QuickTime. Try to use FFMPEG.

Good luck

Kees

Thank you so much for your reply Dr. Straatman,

Would you recommend me to install a 32 bits Java version, even if I use
FFmpeg?

Re: Exception message while opening MP4 file with QuickTime

Straatman, Kees (Dr.)
No, it is not necessary to install 32 bit ImageJ when using FFmpeg
